Blue Star Corner

What's my unit worth?
The story

European Row Housing in the East Bay

As Emeryville rapidly shed its gritty industrial skin in the mid-2000s, local developers faced a new challenge: how to build dense, modern housing without relying solely on massive, block-sized apartment towers. In response, Holliday Development and David Baker Architects teamed up to bring a completely different vision to the Historic Park Avenue District. Looking across the Atlantic for inspiration, they replaced a desolate stretch of aging warehouses and surface parking lots with a concept mirrored after European row housing. Completed in 2007, right on the precipice of the 2008 real estate crash, Blue Star Corner introduced a boutique, eco-conscious urban village to the city. With its intimate tri-level townhomes and lush communal courtyards, it proved that Emeryville's residential future could be intimately connected to the street, environmentally forward, and strikingly modern all at once.

Industrial meets modern luxury

The interiors were designed to honor the area's warehouse roots, with soaring 16- to 19-foot ceilings and exposed concrete columns, contrasted against luxurious, spa-like touches such as Japanese-style soaking tubs and European finishes.
